Burj Khalifa, an 830m-tall tower, dominates the skyscraper-filled skyline. As of 2017, it is the tallest structure in the world since topping out in late 2008. At its foot lies Dubai Fountain, with jets and lights choreographed to music.

The Burj al-Arab is a luxury hotel that stands on an artificial island 280 m (920 ft) from Jumeirah beach and is connected to the mainland by a private curving bridge. The shape of the structure is designed to mimic the sail of a ship.
